A Texas Framework for Languages Other Than English

A Texas Framework for Languages Other Than English

This document is designed to facilitate the development of standards-based materials that match the characteristics of local districts and campuses. Based on eight research-based Guiding Principles and produced in consultation with classroom teachers, district supervisors, higher education professionals, and representatives from business and the community, the framework is tailored specifically to the needs of Texas teachers and students. It supports extended sequences of language learning from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 and includes Learning Snapshots to illustrate how each of the five TEKS for LOTE Program Goals is addressed in LOTE curriculum. It also provides concrete examples of how students demonstrate proficiency at the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels. PDF versions of the document may be downloaded in two parts below, or you may order original prints from the Texas Education Agency, Publications Distribution and Sales, at (512) 463-9744.
