Past Work
Much of our Regional Educational Laboratory contract work focused on helping low-performing schools and districts improve student achievement, especially in reading and mathematics. Under this contract, we worked intensively with nearly 20 sites across the region to assess student reading abilities and improve students’ reading comprehension. We also modeled instructional strategies and provided resources for educators.From 2003–2007, we supported the U.S. Department of Education’s Reading First initiative by maintaining the Reading First awards database. We developed the database to help organize information on the schools and districts that receive Reading First funding. We also produced the Reading First Notebook: The Newsletter for the Reading First Program.
