Past Work

When SEDL was first established, we were among the pioneers in developing highly interactive, multimedia curricular materials for early childhood settings. In the 1970s we designed and tested training models for early childhood programs; we were also among the first to study the effects of television on children’s early educational development. We developed comprehensive bilingual early childhood and kindergarten programs and produced “Los Niños,” a weekly educational bilingual television program for Spanish-speaking preschool children. The 1980s saw us providing training and technical assistance for Head Start and other preschool staff and studying the development of number concepts in young children. In the 1990s and early 2000s we focused on facilitating kids’ transition to school and on updating our Spanish-language early childhood instructional resources.
