Change Process
Past Work
Since the late 1970s, SEDL staff have studied the change process and developed and refined tools and strategies to facilitate the process. In 1992, SEDL published Facilitative Leadership: The Imperative for Change by Shirley Hord. In that document, Hord presented a six-component framework for change. In 2006, we published updated versions of the three manuals related to the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM). CBAM is a framework that provides tools for the collection of information on how the change process is progressing and how adopting new strategies or processes affects the individuals involved.SEDL was also involved with the Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) Program. We evaluated the effects of CSR on rural schools and student achievement. We also developed a searchable database of CSR grantees. In more recent years, our staff developed and tested the Working Systemically approach, a framework for school improvement that addresses all of the components of an educational system and the knowledge and skills necessary to improve student achievement.
