Change Process

Successful educational systems and schools must continually adapt to changing conditions. New demographics, research, and policies frequently require that schools and districts change the way they operate. Such change often involves learning and implementing new approaches—a new curriculum, instructional program, process, or practice—to improve student achievement.
At SEDL, we have learned that meaningful change is a process that requires deliberate leadership action in tailoring tools and processes to support individual and organizational needs as changes are implemented. Effective leaders recognize that change requires time—time to develop and practice new behaviors and competencies, and to examine how changes are affecting educational goals.
Our staff of experts have decades of experience dealing with educational change firsthand as leaders, facilitators, and researchers. We provide a number of services, strategies, and tools to help educators understand and apply knowledge about the change process. The Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) tools, for example, have long been recognized as useful and reliable resources to help educational leaders understand and implement change.
