SEDL's work is guided by a 20-member board of directors. There are four representatives from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Little Rock School District Experience/Education
Dr. Mitchell currently serves as the Associate Superintendent for Elementary Schools in the Little Rock School District. Dr. Mitchell started her career in education as a Special Education teacher in England, Arkansas, and has since served the Little Rock School District in multiple capacities including Assistant Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Mitchell is committed to searching for new and innovative ideas to improve schools and the performance of the children of Arkansas.
Dr. Mitchell received a bachelor of science in Elementary Education from Henderson State University, a master of science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Arkansas, and an EdD from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
