Mary A. Abeita is the Immediate-Past Chairman of SEDL's Board of Directors.
Current WorkNative American Studies Resource Teacher
Van Buren Middle School Experience/Education
Ms. Abeita is a Native American studies resource teacher with the Indian Education Unit at Van Buren Middle School in Albuquerque. Her students represent nearly 30 different tribes, from the local Navajos to the Aleut tribes in Alaska. Before teaching at Van Buren, she drove a Title I "technology bus" for the Gallup-McKinley County area schools where she taught reading lessons and provided computer services to students in grades 1-8.
Ms. Abeita holds a BA in university studies and an endorsement in elementary education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
