SEDL's work is guided by a 20-member board of directors. There are four representatives from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Mr. Briseño is the director of Faith Formation. He previously served as the program director for the C.A.R.A.S. AmeriCorps Program with Families & Youth, Inc. Mr. Briseño, a member of the Las Cruces Board of Education, was also a youth minister at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral for 11 years.
He has served on the Hispanic Adoption Network Advisory Panel, the Las Cruces Housing Authority Educational Services Board, the Las Cruces Gang Task Force, the Project Valor Dropout Committee, and the ENLACE Latino Education Program Leadership Team.
